At 1030 on Sunday 1st September a dozen members of the Society met at Burley Wood in search of plant galls. Five other RNHS recorders were present which ensured that a wide variety of wildlife was monitored in addition to plant galls.

With permission of our President Mr Joss Hanbury, who is also owner of the wood, we were able to park just inside the gate to the wood and thus avoid the problem of parking on the A606.

The weather was good and a total of 34 species of gall was found including 10 on Oak which is usually our most prolific host for gall.

Four members stayed for a short session after lunch during which a Roe Deer was seen crossing a ride, a Hobby was seen overhead chasing and presumably eating dragonflies on the wing.
